OSINT: Corporate Reconnaissance

Corporate reconnaissance could sound a bit complicated; however, what if I told you that you already had done something similar on the internet and social media? For example, you were interested in someone (a writer, a celebrity or someone you just met) and decided to look them up on google or on Instagram to find out more and discover which city they are from or what they do in their free time. Simple, right? Corporate reconnaissance is similar; however, it focuses more on an organisation or a potential client. The information might prove to be more troublesome to find. However, a dedicated and focused search will bring to light a piece of helpful information (such as affiliated corporations or sponsors, organisational structure, history and/or employees).

Perhaps, you were tasked to research a company or a potential client and provide your boss or client with accurate information. You will have to look up any information available that will be useful for them to make an informed and rational decision. There are ways to gather information through email addresses (such as separation of generic and personal emails) and linked accounts using OSINT tools. Still, it is crucial to understand which website or tool can be trusted. Using social media is essential to identify potential clients or competitors in a particular field. Useful OSINT tools can give you information on trademarks, company information and/or bank data.

There are tons of tools that will provide you with useful information, starting from the status of the organisation or a client, their linked accounts, emails, even locations, ending with potential suppliers of certain products of interest.

OSINT tools provide you with the information needed, but it is crucial to keep in mind that some cannot be trusted. During the Alisitas Academy OSINT course, multiple reliable tools will be presented and explained.
